T. Cook's Recipe: "The Don"
T. Cook's newsletter features a new drink recipe each month. This month, the specialty drink is a tequila cocktail made with the clever combination of Don Julio 1942 Anejo tequila and a candied orange.
Appropriately named "The Don," the combination of tequila with the gorgeous flavor of a sweet candied orange creates a full nose experience of vanilla, apple and oak. Silky with a sweet vanilla finish, this unique cocktail can easily be made at home:
To candy an orange, bring a combination of 1 ½ cups water and ½ cup granulated white sugar to a boil. Slice an orange into discs and drop the slices in boiling water. Let boil for 5 - 10 minutes, turning once or twice, then reduce heat to medium and let it cook for an additional 30 minutes. The liquid will turn into a syrup throughout the process. Lay the slices out on wax paper that has been sprinkled with sugar.

The drink is best served with the orange slice atop the tequila drink, resting on the rim. This specialty cocktail is available for $25.00 in T. Cook's.
